Sagesse delivered a dominant performance on the road, defeating Homenetmen 106-60 in Game 2 of their Final 8 playoff series to move within one win of the Final Four.
The Green Castle controlled the contest from start to finish, overwhelming Homenetmen on both ends of the floor and extending their lead to 2-0 in the best-of-five series.
Leading the way was Simi Shittu, who put together his best performance of the postseason so far. The Canadian-Nigerian forward finished with a dominant double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds while adding 2 assists, a steal, and a block in just 33 minutes of action.
Deshawndre Washington once again orchestrated the offense brilliantly, finishing with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 11 assists, narrowly missing a triple-double. The American star continued to control the pace of the game and proved impossible for Homenetmen’s defense to contain.
Youssef “Yoyo” Khayat continued his impressive playoff form with a complete all-around performance, recording 17 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals. The young Lebanese star was influential on both ends of the floor and came close to a triple-double of his own.
Sekou Doumbouya added 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists as the former NBA forward continued to settle into the Sagesse lineup following his arrival from Japan.
Sagesse’s balanced attack proved too much for Homenetmen, with four players finishing in double figures and the team surpassing the 100-point mark for the second consecutive game of the series.
The result leaves Homenetmen in a difficult position, trailing 2-0 and facing elimination heading into Game 3. After making changes to their roster following Game 1, the club was unable to slow down Sagesse’s offensive firepower or match their intensity throughout the night.
For Sagesse, the victory is another statement performance and further proof of their championship ambitions. With Washington running the show, Shittu dominating inside, Khayat continuing his emergence, and Doumbouya finding his rhythm, the Green Castle appears to be hitting top form at exactly the right time.
Now holding a commanding 2-0 lead, Sagesse will have the opportunity to complete the sweep in Game 3 and secure its place in the Final Four.
One more win separates the Green Castle from the next stage of the playoffs.
