Central Club moved within one victory of the Final Four after delivering a dominant 114-72 win over Hoops Club in Game 2 of their Final 8 playoff series.
The convincing victory gives Central a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five matchup and puts Hoops on the brink of elimination heading into Game 3.
After a relatively competitive first half, Central completely took over the contest with one of the most dominant stretches seen in this year’s playoffs. The team exploded for a remarkable 38-8 run during the third quarter, effectively ending the game and leaving Hoops with no answer on either end of the floor.
Leading the charge was former NBA guard Rayvonte Rice, who bounced back in spectacular fashion after a rusty debut performance in Game 1. Rice finished with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals, reminding everyone why he was brought in for the postseason.
Lebanese sharpshooter Mathew Khoury put on a shooting clinic, scoring 22 points while knocking down an incredible seven three-pointers. His perimeter shooting helped fuel Central’s offensive explosion and stretched Hoops’ defense throughout the evening.
Jihad El Khatib delivered another complete performance, finishing with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and a block. The Rising star continued to impact the game in every facet and provided steady leadership during Central’s decisive run.
Anyeuri Castillo was equally effective, contributing 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks in one of his best all-around performances of the season.
Meanwhile, Gora Abdoulaye controlled the paint with 11 rebounds and 6 assists while helping Central dominate the interior battle.
The balanced offensive attack proved too much for Hoops to handle, as Central placed four players above the 20-point mark and showcased the depth that has made them one of the most dangerous teams in the playoffs.
For Hoops, there were few positives to take away from the defeat. The team struggled offensively throughout the second half and was overwhelmed by Central’s intensity during the decisive third-quarter surge.
Now trailing 2-0 in the series, Hoops faces a must-win situation in Game 3. Another defeat would bring their season to an end.
As for Central, confidence continues to grow. With Rice finding his rhythm, Khoury catching fire from beyond the arc, and multiple players contributing on both ends of the floor, the club is now just one win away from securing its place in the Final Four.
